This is the date for receiving the “Oued Bouhadid” dam in Annaba – New Algeria

Expected to receive a dam “Oued Bouhadid” Allocated to protect the city of Annaba from the threat of floods during the month of March 2026, according to the local director of irrigation, Djamila Briki, today, Thursday.

Briki explained in a statement to the Algerian News Agency that the works undergo regular field follow-up by the competent departments to ensure accelerating the pace of completion and respecting the approved technical standards.

This project comes within the emergency program to protect the city of Annaba from floods, and is considered one of the important structural projects completed with national capabilities and competencies.

In her speech, she told an official that the dam will have a theoretical capacity of up to 750,000 cubic meters of rainwater flowing from the tops of the Aydog Mountains and the streams of the western side of the city, to direct it towards Wadi Boudjemaa in the municipality of Alboni before discharging it into the sea.

The project allows controlling water flow by reducing it from 160 cubic meters per second to about 10 cubic meters per second, which contributes to reducing the risk of floods and protecting neighboring residential neighborhoods.

Briki stressed that completing the project will enhance the safety of citizens within the framework of the state’s strategy aimed at strengthening basic facilities and preventing natural hazards.
