Sayhi: Worker safety is a priority and digital transformation is the pillar of prevention – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Abdul Haq Sayhi, stressed the need to strengthen the protection of workers’ health and safety, considering that digitization and smart prevention represent two essential pillars for building an effective national system in the field of occupational safety and health, especially in sectors with high risks.

This came while he chaired an evaluation meeting devoted to following up and evaluating the activities of the Occupational Hazards Prevention Authority in the construction, public works and irrigation sectors, where the reality of field interventions and the level of prevention adopted was examined.

In this context, the Minister provided a number of strategic directives, the most prominent of which is intensifying field outputs directed to construction workshops, based on risk indicators and rates of work accidents, while directing interventions towards institutions with high labor density and high risks, within a proactive preventive approach.

Saihi also called for adopting a unified national approach to preventing occupational hazards, based on smart targeting of workshops and institutions based on databases and analysis of accident rates, in addition to moving towards a modern preventive system that relies on digital solutions and real-time risk assessment systems.

The Minister stressed the need to strictly follow up on the implementation of prevention plans in the field of occupational health and safety, with an emphasis on respecting regulatory texts, preparing detailed reports, and referring violations to the competent authorities, in coordination with the interests of the Labor Inspectorate, in a way that enhances the effectiveness of oversight, inspection, and sensitization.

In the same context, Saihi stressed the importance of unifying mechanisms for collecting and analyzing work accident data and exploiting it in preparing proactive analytical studies that support decision-making and improving preventive policies, while developing digital training programs for the benefit of workers and institutions through interactive platforms to establish a culture of prevention.

He also ordered the preparation of a strategic plan for the period 2026-2030, in line with the national policy for digital transformation, and based on digitizing the preventive path, improving the quality of services, and facilitating access to information for the benefit of workers and institutions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister of Labor reiterated his emphasis that worker safety is a collective responsibility of the highest priority, especially in the construction, public works, and irrigation sectors, calling for accelerating the digitization of the Prevention Authority’s services and abandoning traditional management patterns.
