Laying the foundation stone for the project to secure the infrastructure of the Satellite Communications Center – New Algeria

Today, Saturday, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Sidali Zerrougui, supervised the laying of the foundation stone for the project to secure the infrastructure for the satellite communications center of Algeria Satellite Telecommunications, at the Boghzoul location in the province of Medea, according to a statement by the ministry.
This strategic project aims – according to the statement – to ensure the continuity of national satellite communications services, by establishing a backup center that guarantees redundancy in the event of an emergency at the Green Center.
The Boghzoul site in Medea Province, which extends over an area of 30,000 square metres, was chosen based on precise technical and strategic criteria that include moderate seismic activity, high density of optical fibers, easy access via the Chefa-Boughzoul highway, as well as proximity to the Algerian Space Agency, as the project will be financed with a total amount of one billion Algerian dinars.
The project will contribute to creating jobs during the completion and operation phases, in addition to a positive economic impact locally and nationally. This achievement also represents an important step to strengthen the national satellite communications infrastructure and ensure the sustainability of vital services.
