Jordanian throne speech… King Abdullah II raises morale and confirms: “Yes, I worry… but I fear only God.”
Jordanian King Abdullah II delivered the Throne Speech at the opening of the regular session of Parliament, presenting strong messages at home and abroad in which he stressed steadfastness, reform, and support for the Palestinian cause, saying: “Yes, the king worries, but he only fears God, and with a Jordanian at his back.”
The speech, which received wide interaction inside and outside the dome, carried a frank tone full of confidence, as the King affirmed that “crises in the region change and come back, but Jordan will remain strong no matter how great the events become,” calling on the representatives to continue the path of political modernization and strengthen party work “because we do not have the luxury of time or complacency.”
The King recalled the biography of his late father, Hussein bin Talal, and paid tribute to his son, Crown Prince Hussein, describing him as “a soldier in this country,” before addressing the situation in Gaza, saying: “What happened there is a disaster, and we will remain alongside our brothers with all our capabilities.”
He also reaffirmed the Hashemite custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, noting that “Jordan’s position is firm and unwavering.”
The speech, which was preceded by a parade of honor guards in the traditional red procession, came loaded with moral messages affirming the unity of Jordanians and their confidence in their institutions in facing regional challenges.
