Eight Arab and Islamic countries welcomed the steps announced by Hamas regarding the proposal of US President Donald Trump aimed at ending the war on Gaza, release all hostages, and attempting immediate negotiations to put implementation mechanisms.
A joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of Jordan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, Pakistan and Indonesia today, Sunday, stated that the eight countries strongly support international efforts to stop the war on Gaza immediately, and to reach a comprehensive and permanent agreement that guarantees the delivery of humanitarian aid without restrictions, and prevents the displacement of Palestinians or endangering civilians.
The statement stressed the importance of the Palestinian Authority’s return to Gaza and the unification of the West Bank and the Strip, stressing the necessity of setting a security mechanism that guarantees the stability of all parties, in a way that leads to a complete withdrawal of the occupation forces and the start of a comprehensive reconstruction process that paves the way to achieve a fair peace on the basis of the two -state solution.
The ministers also welcomed Hamas’s declaration of its willingness to hand over the Gaza administration to a transitional committee of independent technocrats, considering that this step opens a real door for the internal Palestinian dialogue and contributes to uniting the national class.
In the same context, the ministers expressed their appreciation for the invitation of US President Donald Trump for an immediate end to the Israeli bombing and the start of the exchange agreement, stressing that recent developments constitute a rare opportunity to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire, and end the sharp human suffering experienced by the residents of the Gaza Strip for months.
It is noteworthy that the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) had announced, last Friday, its official position on the Trump plan after extensive internal consultations and with the Palestinian factions, confirming its openness to any initiative that ends the aggression and guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
