The Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations, Ammar Benjameh, delivered a speech during a Security Council session devoted to discussing “the situation in the Middle East, including the question of Palestine.”
Ben Jama stressed that the UN resolution sends a clear message about respecting the law and assuming responsibility, stressing that “Israeli” practices in the occupied Palestinian territories represent a clear violation of international humanitarian law.
The representative of Algeria added that this session is the last in which the Algerian delegation participates as an elected member of the Security Council regarding the Palestinian issue, asking, “Is everything we documented previously, and what was ignored, worth all this trouble?”, referring to the extent of the ongoing violations and the failure of the international community to put an end to them.
