Today, Thursday in Algiers, the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Faisal Ben Taleb, revealed the start of preparing a regulatory framework for contracts between the National Social Insurance Fund for wage-earners and private clinics to sponsor radiotherapy for the benefit of children with cancer.

During a public session in the National Assembly devoted to asking oral questions to a number of members of the government, chaired by the Speaker of the Assembly, Saleh Gogel, Mr. Ben Taleb explained that “following the directives of the President of the Republic, the Ministry began preparing a regulatory framework for the contract between the National Fund for Social Insurance for wage-earners and private clinics to provide care.” Radiation therapy for the benefit of children with cancer.”

The Minister said that this project is “an important step in strengthening the integration between the national health system and the social security system and provides additional solutions in the field of specialized medical care to ensure facilitation of patients’ access to necessary treatments and reflects the state’s commitment to providing comprehensive health care for all groups, including injured children.” “With this disease.”

Regarding the reimbursement of medications for cancer, the Minister affirmed that “this disease falls within the list of chronic diseases from which the socially insured benefit, and the medications intended for this category are compensated at a rate of 100 percent,” adding that “the social security legislation in effect grants the right to the socially insured.” People with cancer can receive a recovery card.

On the other hand, Mr. Ben Taleb indicated that his ministerial department has begun taking “the necessary practical measures to take care of cancer patients who do not benefit from social coverage,” “in implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic on the occasion of the inauguration of the National Committee for Cancer Prevention and Control.”

He added that these procedures enable this group to obtain a recovery card that allows them to benefit from the payment system by third parties, which guarantees them – as he said – access to prescribed medications, which number up to 1,700 medications, through pharmacies contracted with the National Fund. On the same occasion, the Minister stressed that promoting health and social protection are considered among the basic principles of the state’s social policy, which seeks to “improve the quality of healthy life for citizens, including patients who suffer from chronic and serious diseases, such as cancer patients.”
