Arabs of Asia are the best
The 24 group stage matches delivered on all their promises, bringing excitement since the first meeting between Tunisia and Syria on December 1.
The Eagles of Qasioun left their mark on the first surprises of the 11th edition of the Arab Cup, whose competitions will extend until December 18.
The squad of Spanish coach José Lana overthrew the runner-up in the 2021 tournament, with captain Omar Kharbin scoring the first goal.
It was then the turn of the host country, Qatar, which lost to the Palestinian team with an unanswered goal in the same group (first).
The remaining matches showed the strength of the Arab Asian teams, as Jordan dominated its third group and scored the full score (9 points).
Palestine, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the Emirates, and Iraq from the Yellow Continent secured their seats in the quarter-finals.
While Algeria and Morocco were the exception, as they saved the face of the African Arabs and won the leadership of the second and fourth groups at the expense of Iraq and Saudi Arabia, respectively.

The teams participating in the 2025 Arab Cup equaled the total number of goals scored during the group stage of the 2021 tournament.
61 goals were scored in 21 matches, while three matches ended in a goalless draw, one of which brought together Algeria and Sudan in the first round.
Jordan had the highest scoring tally (8), followed by Algeria (7), then the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Tunisia (5).
Jordanian Ali Alwan scored three goals to become the top scorer.
The reserve national team shared the table with Syria and Morocco with the best defense lines, as they conceded one goal in three matches.
The Comoros team exited the competition with the worst score, as it did not achieve any point and scored the largest number of goals (8), but it scored more than Syria, which qualified for the quarter-finals (3 for first and 2 for second).
