The Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Aqab, stressed the importance of the strategic partnership that brings together Algeria and Russia, which was strengthened by signing the declaration of the strategic strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as several agreements, notes of understanding and joint work programs.
This came during the bilateral talks conducted by Minister Aarqab, on Monday, with the Russian Deputy Energy Minister, Roman Marshavin, as part of his participation in the activities of the fourth edition of the African Bo -Trading Exhibition 2025 held in Algiers.
During the talks, the two parties dealt with ways to enhance cooperation between Algeria and Russia in the fields of energy, mines and renewable energies, and reviewed the prospects for their development to serve the interests of the two countries.
The two sides affirmed their commitment to strengthening the energy partnership by studying the various opportunities available, especially in the areas of fuel, research and exploitation, the development of the fields and the oil and gas industry in Algeria, through cooperation between the Sonatrach complex and the Russian company Gazprom, and they also discussed cooperation opportunities in the field of renewable energies, including the development of green hydrogen and solar photovoltaic energy, as well as regional electrical connection projects.
The meeting was an occasion to discuss the prospects for cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear technologies and applications, especially in the medical field and the production of radioactive pharmaceutical materials to combat cancer, through partnerships between the Algerian Atomic Energy Governorate and the Russian Foundation “Rosatom”. It was also touched on the possibility of developing the local industry for equipment for these areas.
On this occasion, the Minister sent an official invitation to Russian institutions active in the mining sector to contribute to the development of the mining industry in Algeria, whether in the areas of research and exploitation or the transfer of mining resources.
For his part, Roman Marshavin praised the great capabilities available to expanding cooperation and economic exchanges between Algeria and Russia, especially in the energy and renewable energy sector, expressing the interest of Russian institutions and companies in investing in the Algerian market, especially by supporting cooperation between Sonatrach and Gazbrom.
In conclusion, the two parties welcomed the level of dialogue and coordination between the two countries in various international forums, especially within the framework of “OPEC+” and the forum of gas exporting countries, stressing their joint commitment to contribute to the stability of global oil and gas markets.
