Youth Belouizdad travels to South Africa

The flight carrying the delegation of the first team of CS Belouizdad departed, on Wednesday evening, towards South Africa after registering a delay that extended for more than ten hours as a result of the weather fluctuations taking place in Algeria.

Strong winds blew in several states in the north of the country this morning, precipitating the postponement of some flights.

The youth delegation was forced to wait inside Houari Boumediene International Airport in the capital, after it was scheduled to travel at exactly nine in the morning.

The Algerian representative will face the South African club Stellenbosch, in the framework of the fourth round of the group stage of the African Confederation Cup, on Sunday.

The people of Al-Aqiba aim to confirm their victory recorded at Nelson Mandela Stadium this week.

Al-Shabab rose to the top of the third group, thanks to a brace from Abdelnour Belhousini and Farid El-Malali, as the team reached the sixth point.

For his part, Stellenbosch and Singida of Tanzania share second place with four points, and Otoho of Congo is at the bottom of the group standings with three points.

In the second round, Otoho surprised CS Belouizdad, beating them four goals to one.

Stellenbosch receives its Algerian guest at the DHL World Cup Stadium in Cape Town, which can accommodate more than 60,000 fans.

The youth competitor was forced to move away from its “Danny Craven” stadium, which is affiliated with Stellenbosch University, last October, due to the renovation work it is witnessing in anticipation of hosting the World University Rugby Championship this year.

At the local level, the South African team is not going through its best period, as it achieved four victories in 15 matches in the local league.

Stellenbosch is ranked 13th out of 16 teams in the overall rankings.

The team was affected by the departure of its coach, Steve Parker, to Simba, Tanzania, where he held the position for eight years and was able to lead it to the semi-finals of the African Confederation Cup last season.

The club’s management sought help from veteran South African coach Gavin Hunt, who won the local league on four occasions.

Hunt is trying to find the features of the appropriate lineup, as he supervised the team in two matches, the first in which it defeated Chicokon in the local league and the second in which it lost to CS Belouizdad in the African Confederation Cup.
