World Gymnastics Championships: Tigers give Algeria fifth place

Algerian artistic gymnast Kelia Nemmour raised the national flag high to compete against major international schools in the 53rd edition of the World Championships held in Indonesia.
Tigers won two medals during the artistic gymnastics competitions, which lasted for six days (October 19-25) and included five different disciplines.
This result allowed the national team to climb the medal table, finishing fifth in the overall standings.

A technical error prevented Kelia Nammour from climbing onto the podium, after she finished the first day of the general individual competitions in fourth place.
The Algerian fell while performing a group of movements on the balance beam, deducting her final score and falling in the rankings behind Chinese Zhang Qingyang.
Tigers compensated in the best possible way during the final day of the World Cup, performing with complete skill the same apparatus movements in the final competitions.
The Olympic champion’s score improved despite the increase in the degree of difficulty, as she moved from a score of 13.466 to 14.300.
This result gave Tigers second place in the overall standings, winning the silver medal, while the gold went to Zhang Qingyang of China.
Zhang repeated her excellent performance on the balance beam, having previously topped the same competition in the general individual competition.
