The decision of the Ministry of National Education to postpone school entry to September 21 instead of next September 10, the broad welcome from the educational family, including managers, professors and guardians, considering that it is “a wise decision that takes into account the exceptional climatic conditions that the country is going through.”

The Ministry of National Education announced, on Tuesday, the amendment of the date of school entry for the academic season 2025/2026, as the beginning of the study was postponed to all regions after reviewing the statement issued on August 3.

According to the new statement of the ministry, school entry will take place in stages, as administrative employees begin their work on Sunday, September 7, while the professors join their positions on Sunday, September 14, with the students starting to actually start on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

A group of deputies had submitted official demands to the Ministry of National Education to take into account the harsh climatic conditions in the southern states when determining the date of school entry, and the deputy from the state of Ouargla stressed, in a previous statement, that “the desert areas are witnessing very high temperatures during the month of September, which makes the educational process very difficult for students and professors alike.”

Representatives from other states in southern Algeria also called for the necessity of “setting a school calendar that takes into account the climatic privacy of each region,” noting that the temperatures in these areas exceed 45 degrees Celsius during the month of September.

The southern states face major climatic challenges, as very high temperatures are recorded during the summer and the beginning of the fall, which negatively affects the course of study in educational institutions that are not equipped with appropriate air conditioning systems, and witnessed states such as Ouargla, Ghardaia, the valley, Biskra, and Adrar, severe free waves that extend to the beginning of October, which makes the learning process in the classroom very difficult.

A number of managers and professors expressed the widespread welcome of the decision to postpone school entry, considering that it is “a wise decision that takes into account the exceptional climatic conditions that the country is going through.”

For their part, the parents of the students in the southern states expressed their satisfaction with this decision, stressing that “the health of our children is more important than any other consideration.” And the associations of parents of students called for the necessity of preparing schools in the desert areas with modern cooling systems to ensure an educational environment suitable for students and educational staff.
