Warning against consuming this brand of canned sardines – New Algeria

The Algerian Consumer Defense Organization warned “protect you” Citizens who consume canned sardines labeled “Al-Manar” because the portion 337/25 contains a substance that poses a threat to their health.

The organization stated that histamine is a substance that may be formed as a result of bacterial decomposition of fish during poor preservation or failure to respect cold chain conditions. It is not affected by the cooking or canning process, and consuming a product containing high levels of it may lead to the appearance of symptoms within minutes to hours.

Symptoms include facial redness and a feeling of heat, itching or skin rash, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea, and in rare cases shortness of breath or low blood pressure – according to her.
