“Waj” opens fire on an opportunistic political party

The Algerian News Agency, WAJ, published an article under the title “Declared Incidents of Political Opportunism,” through which it opened fire on a political party that has declared itself the exclusive guardian of patriotism, but is working to ignite all fronts, exploiting social imbalances.

The article stated, “With the upcoming legislative dues approaching, a political party has emerged once again, declaring itself the exclusive guardian of patriotism and distributing certificates of patriotism, through a state of obscene clamor that reflects political quackery.”

“Waj” added, “This party, which claims that its only concern is the ‘future of Algeria,’ is working to ignite all fronts, exploiting social imbalances, as it does not stop blowing on embers, and uses a circumstantial opposition without a compass or harmony, except for primitive electoral opportunism that has stagnated forever. Behind the hollow slogans and assuming the role of a preacher, the facts remain solid and the national memory is protected from oblivion.”

The source asked, “So how can this party claim deep-rooted patriotism, while one of its representatives performed his military service in France, the former colonial power, and what is more dangerous is that the same representative was absent from the National People’s Assembly on the day of voting on a historic law criminalizing colonialism? How can a date with history be deliberately missed, an event that embodies loyalty to the sacrifices of the people of Algeria. So how can it be claimed at the same time to monopolize the legacy of the national struggle? It is a blatant contradiction and a scandalous position.”

“What is more dangerous than that is that this party does not hesitate to exploit the anger of transporters, resulting from a misunderstanding that was deliberately fueled around a proposal related to the traffic law, with a clear goal: protecting citizens and professionals alike,” Wag continued.

She added, “This opportunistic employment, devoid of any sense of responsibility, reveals a predatory political logic that feeds on social imbalance instead of contributing to its treatment, and in its permanent campaign against the government, this party deliberately ignores a truth that cannot be skipped: embarking on the implementation and gradual announcement of major presidential decisions with a deep social dimension.”

It was also stated in the “WAJ” article that “The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has approved, for the year 2026, raising the guaranteed national minimum wage to 24 thousand dinars, and raising the unemployment grant to 18 thousand dirhams, in addition to the annual review of retirement pensions by a rate ranging between 5 and 10%, to strengthen the purchasing power of retirees in the face of economic fluctuations.”

He continued, “In addition to that was the announcement made today of the decision to import one million heads of sheep in anticipation of Eid Al-Adha, which is a practical measure aimed at controlling prices, combating speculation, and enabling Algerian families to revive this religious ritual with dignity.”

The source continued, “These measures also complement other social measures, including continuing to support widely consumed items, maintaining support for energy and strategic materials, gradually raising wages in public employment, accelerating housing programs and subsidized public housing (LPA), enhancing health coverage and facilitating access to treatment.”

All of them are concrete and courageous measures aimed at protecting purchasing power, preserving citizen dignity, and responding to the country’s real priorities. However, the reality of the field does not mean anything to this party as long as systematic criticism of public authorities represents its political capital.

This party is still based on a rigid reading system dating back to the 1990s, feeding on a culture of chaos, division, and obscurantism, which demonstrates, at every stage of modern history, its structural inability to rise to the level of national stakes.

During the blessed popular movement, the same party was aligned with the “gang,” supporting the fifth term, then defending the extension of the fourth term, and shamelessly aligning itself with France’s official theses and those promoted by Xavier Driancourt, known for his neo-colonial tendency.

On this basis, it is not possible for him to come today assuming the role of a virgin, nor disguised as a last-minute savior. The Algerian people are neither naive nor amnesiac.

In 2019, when this party tried to reposition itself, the popular ruling was decisive: its first official was forcefully expelled from Audian Square. History is well established.

There is something that should remain engraved in the memory of this party: If the people saw their true colors in 2019, then Algeria of 2026, with the strength of its institutions, its political maturity, and the democratic path it has achieved, will not pay any attention to opportunists without vision or credibility.

The people will know, once again, how to return everyone to their natural place, including those who will be consigned to the dustbin of history.”
