In a press statement after presenting his credentials to the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in his capacity as the new ambassador of the Vatican City to Algeria, Javier Herrera Corona explained that his meeting with the President of the Republic was “very friendly” and reflects – as he said – the depth of relations between Algeria and the Holy See, “which have existed for more than 50 years.”

He added that during this meeting, the upcoming visit of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV to Algeria was discussed, a visit that will “strengthen the bonds of friendship and mutual respect that exist between our two countries.”
