In the sixth issue of the Official Gazette, Executive Decree No. 26-87 dated 2 Shaban 1447 AH, corresponding to January 21, 2026, was issued amending and supplementing Executive Decree No. 22-70 issued on 9 Rajab 1443 AH, i.e. February 10, 2022, relating to the conditions and methods of benefiting from the unemployment grant and its amount, in addition to the obligations incurred by its beneficiaries.
The decree stipulates that the beneficiary of the unemployment grant is obligated to prove his registration every six months, either via the digital platform designated for this purpose, or by appearing in person before the interests of the National Employment Agency that is regionally competent in his place of residence.
In return, the beneficiary is required to respond to the agency’s summons, and not to reject any single job offer that matches his qualifications. The decree pays attention to the qualifying aspect of the beneficiary, as it requires him to actually search for qualifying training or qualified training with a certificate, while continuing to receive an unemployment grant during the training period in accordance with the provisions of the decree.
In the same context, Article Seven of the text of Article Two sets the value of the unemployment grant at 18,000 DZD per month, for a period of one year, renewable only once. The beneficiaries also benefit from in-kind payments related to sickness insurance, while the state bears 7 percent of the grant amount for social subscription, and the costs of social coverage for sickness insurance fall on it.
Renewing the benefit from the unemployment grant also requires strict adherence to the prescribed duties, while the grant can be disbursed for an additional year to beneficiaries who are active within the system and whose seniority is less than 24 months, after completing the remaining period of the original benefit period, provided that the benefit does not exceed a maximum of two years. The National Employment Agency also stressed the necessity of registering job seekers for the first time with an updated national card, in order to guide them in a flexible and transparent manner, ensuring equal opportunities and achieving the development goals of the program.
According to what was stated in the Official Gazette, the renewal of benefit from the unemployment grant will be subject to strict adherence to the stipulated duties, provided that this is done according to a joint decision between the Minister in charge of Labor and Employment, the Minister in charge of Finance, the Minister in charge of the Interior, and the Minister in charge of vocational training and education.
On the same level. An updated national card entitled “First-time job seekers” will be created in an updated national card, with the aim of guiding them with all flexibility and transparency. The interests of the National Employment Agency are in charge of this.
