This is the start date of the second phase of vaccination campaigns

The Ministry of Health announced the launch date of the second phase of the National Polio Vaccination Days, which will be next Sunday and will continue until December 27.

The Ministry said, in a statement on Friday, that this stage falls within the national health prevention strategy, which aims to protect children’s health and ensure their immunization against polio, in line with Algeria’s commitments in the field of public health and approved vaccination programmes.

The Ministry of Health has deployed more than 7,000 vaccination centers across the entire national territory, supported by mobile medical teams that will work to reach remote and isolated areas, with the aim of ensuring comprehensive coverage of all targeted children, between the ages of two months and five years, who received the vaccine in the first phase and those who did not receive the vaccine in the first phase.

The Ministry confirmed the continued full mobilization of its various medical and paramedical teams, in addition to coordination with various local actors, to make this national campaign of a strategic nature successful, and to ensure its progress in the best organizational and health conditions.

The Ministry of Health renewed its call to all parents to take their children to health institutions for vaccination, within the specified time, in order to preserve the children’s health, enhance collective immunity, and protect society from this disease.

The Ministry of Health had previously affirmed its commitment to continuing efforts, in coordination with various partners, for the success of national vaccination campaigns and consolidating public health gains, in the service of child health and society.

The Ministry of Health’s statement stated that, within the framework of following up and implementing the national strategy to eradicate polio, the Ministry, represented by the General Directorate of Prevention and Health Promotion, organized, on Sunday, for two days, in Algiers, the evaluation days of the national polio vaccination campaign in its first phase, with the participation of the central frameworks as well as representatives of the participating ministerial sectors and international partners, along with a number of technical supervisors at the level of the health and population directorates of the states.

These evaluation days aim to analyze the results of the first phase of the campaign, and study the recorded administrative and technical data, in addition to presenting the results of the mandates and independent evaluations, in order to identify the strengths and identify the challenges recorded in the field, in a way that ensures improving the quality of interventions during the coming stages.
