This is the education sector budget for the year 2024

The Minister of National Education, Abdelhakim Belabed, revealed his sector’s budget, entitled Finance Law 2024, which amounted to 1,489 billion, 829 million, and 962 thousand Algerian dinars.
The minister said, during his presentation about his sector, before members of the Finance and Budget Committee of the National People’s Assembly, that his ministerial sector’s portfolio, entitled Finance Law 2024, had been allocated a financial cover estimated at 1,489 billion and 829 million and 962 thousand Algerian dinars.
The primary official for the education sector explained that this budget increased compared to the 2023 budget, estimated at 239 billion Algerian dinars, an increase of 21.70 percent.
Belabed added that the budget of the national education sector for the year 2024 represents 10.18 percent of the total budget, which is a significant percentage.
The Minister also presented the sector’s tally for the current academic season, where the number of educational institutions reached 29,215 educational institutions, with 11,145,598 male and female students studying in the three educational levels, including 386,780 new students.
The minister added that supervision for this academic year exceeded half a million among educational and administrative supervisors, including 576,457 professors at various educational levels, a difference of 41,274 professors from last season, explaining that this increase in the number of professors, which amounted to 7.71 percent, of which 8.66 percent , graduates of high schools for teachers.
This year, 4,144 new English language teachers and 12,877 physical education teachers were hired at the primary level, the minister added.
On the sidelines of the 42nd session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), held in Paris, the Minister of National Education met with the Minister of Education of the Republic of Turkey, Yusuf Tekin, and the Deputy Minister of Education of Finland, Mikaela Nylander.
According to a statement by the Ministry, the meeting he held on Wednesday with his Turkish counterpart constituted an opportunity to review the reality and prospects of educational cooperation between the two countries, and to confirm their desire to strengthen and enhance cooperation to develop education and the quality of education, by activating the provisions of the memorandum of understanding that was signed in Turkey on May 16, 2022.
This agreement aims – the same source adds – to exchange expertise and experiences, especially in the fields of modern technologies applied in education, teaching foreign languages (English) and the arts (theatre, music and drawing), and to encourage the development of projects and joint research activities in the field of education.
While the talks with the Finnish party dealt with ways to establish cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, and ways to upgrade the educational system through the exchange of experiences and expertise in the fields of educational research and effective educational methods, in addition to the use of media and communication technologies in accordance with the latest approaches.
