
The Minister of National Education, Dr. announced Muhammad Saghir SaadawiThe competition for hiring professors will be announced during the following week of this month, reiterating that the basis for hiring professors is based on graduates of higher schools for teachers, as it is the ideal solution to meet the supervision needs, according to what was reported, today, Thursday, in a statement by the Ministry.
During his supervision at the ministry’s headquarters in Mouradia, the opening of the work of the scheduled working session with representatives of trade union organizations, to present the preliminary draft draft for an executive decree amending and completing Executive Decree No. 25-54 containing the basic law regarding employees belonging to the branches of national education, especially with regard to employees of economic departments, the Minister referred to the ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education to expand the network of these schools and ensure the completion of recruitment processes in line with the needs of the sector.
The Minister began his speech by emphasizing that the shortcomings that existed in Executive Decree No. 25-54, which contains the basic law regarding employees belonging to the national education corps, are mainly related to the corps of economic department employees, in addition to the suggestions and observations raised by trade union organizations in other corps.
In this regard, the Minister indicated that he provided clear directives on the necessity of achieving consensus among trade union organizations on the proposals in order to reach consensus on them.
On the other hand, the Minister indicated that the sector’s budget for the year 2026 witnessed an increase of 8.2%, which will enhance the ability to invest in building educational structures and confront the pressure recorded in some regions, which is one of the most prominent social-professional concerns at hand. He stressed that the sector annually receives more than one million new students in the first year of primary school, which requires permanent expansion of school structures to ensure the quality of teaching and provide an appropriate educational environment.
In terms of numbers, Minister Saadawi said that the special program for the year 2025 allowed the registration of 196 primary schools, 100 intermediate schools, and 60 secondary schools, and that the budget for the year 2026 includes programming 260 primary schools, 177 intermediate schools, and 140 secondary schools, while continuing to support states facing pressure in the number of students to ensure the provision of sufficient and appropriate educational spaces, and that coordination is underway with the interests of the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism and the City and Urban Planning. As well as local groups to implement these programs within the specified deadlines.
At the level of cultural and sporting activity, the first official in charge of the education sector in Algeria stressed the Ministry’s continued promotion of scientific and pedagogical aspects within institutions, by activating scientific competitions, robotics, educational clubs, and sporting activities, because of their direct impact in refining talent and consolidating the spirit of positive competitiveness.
The Minister also announced that the specialized committee has completed the first phase of its work regarding educational curricula and the organization of education, where – according to him – its results will be announced in the coming days, to implement some aspects in a phased manner during the current season, with the full version being implemented starting from the next academic season.
