The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments announced that Tuesday, January 20, 2026 AD, is the first day of the month of Shaban for the year 1447 AH.
According to an official statement by the Ministry, today, Sunday, this announcement comes after the confirmation of the legitimate sighting and astronomical calculations approved by the National Crescents Committee.
Based on this calendar, the Ministry clarified that the date of the Night of Doubt to anticipate the crescent of the holy month of Ramadan for this year will be Tuesday, Shaban 29, 1447 AH, which corresponds to the date of February 17, 2026 AD, during which the crescent will be monitored on that night to determine the official date for the beginning of fasting.
The Ministry concluded its statement by turning to God to pray that the Algerian people and the Islamic nation will reach the month of Ramadan in good health and well-being, and that He will facilitate for everyone the doing of good and righteous deeds, with its wishes that He will preserve Algeria and make it a country of security, faith, peace and peace.
