This is new at the University of Setif – New Algeria

It is expected that a university will be organized Farhat Abbas (Setif 1) During the period between March 31 and next April 2, the first hackathon for reverse engineering in the field of mechanics will be held in an initiative aimed at enhancing national competencies in the fields of applied engineering.

In a statement to Wajj, Farouk Bin Ali, director of the business incubator at the same university, the initiating body for organizing it, explained that this scientific and technological event aims to “encourage innovative students to engage in a practical experience that combines technical analysis and economic vision in a competitive space based on creativity.” And innovation“.

In the same context, participants will be given 30 hours of continuous work to develop their projects before presenting them to the jury, where each team will present a presentation highlighting the project idea and its technical and economic features, according to Mr. Ben Ali, who added that the idea of the demonstration is based on developing innovative technical solutions that allow the integration of the technical and economic dimensions in the proposed projects through technical analysis, feasibility study, business model and industrial marketing.

Not far from that, the participating students will work within multidisciplinary teams that include students in mechanical engineering, electronics, and automated media, in addition to students in economics and management sciences, as the door to participation has been opened to students from various national university institutions.

On the other hand, the winners of this scientific event, which will be organized in cooperation with the Research Unit in Additive Manufacturing in Setif, will receive valuable prizes in addition to the possibility of incubating the winning projects by the business incubator of the University of Setif 1 with the aim of transforming them into innovative projects that can be embodied in the industrial reality, according to the same official.

The organization of this hackathon comes within the framework of the university’s endeavor to support the culture of industrial innovation and motivate students to move from theoretical thinking to practical application by tackling real industrial challenges using the reverse engineering methodology, which relies on dismantling an existing product, understanding its structure and functions, then redesigning or improving it to become more efficient, less expensive, and more capable of local manufacturing, as mentioned above.
