These are the reasons for ending the duties of the American ambassador to Algeria – New Algeria

The world-renowned American news agency “Associated Press” confirmed that the termination of the duties of the American ambassador to Algeria, Elizabeth Moore Open, was taken by Washington in a collective framework that includes many diplomats in other countries as well, and for reasons related to the new directions of the American administration after the election of President Donald Trump, and in a way that serves the slogan “America First.”

The agency, which quoted the statements of two sources in the US State Department who preferred to remain anonymous, said that the current US administration led by Donald Trump intends to replace a number of ambassadors and diplomats with others who are compatible with the new US policy, especially since the ambassadors and diplomats concerned with leaving their positions were appointed during the era of former US President Joe Biden and for reasons that the current administration considers to be of a political nature and far from the current goals of the US administration.

The agency also indicated that the 29 diplomats and ambassadors concerned about leaving their posts starting next January 1 will not be permanently removed from the American diplomatic corps, as they will be able to continue other duties in the American capital, Washington.

The American agency also added that all diplomats concerned with completing missions, starting next January 1, were appointed to their positions during the term of former US President Joe Biden, as “they were temporarily excluded from the first campaign to end diplomatic missions at the beginning of the term of the current President Donald Trump, before the current American administration began to inform them of the decisions to end missions last Wednesday.”

The American agency also said that these changes made by the American administration in the American diplomatic corps include American embassies in 15 countries on the African continent and six countries in Asia, as well as four other countries in Europe, where the African countries concerned include Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria, Burundi, and Niger.

The US Ambassador to Algeria, Elizabeth Moore Open, was appointed to her position in Algeria during the year 2021, but she did not begin her diplomatic activity in the country until 2022, as no information leaked in Washington about who would succeed her in this position, according to the agency.

The American Ambassador to Algeria, Elizabeth Moore Open, was known for several field activities and outings that included many states during the period of her duties in Algeria, through which she worked to highlight the country’s cultural heritage.
