The World Cup model arrives in Algeria

The plane, the official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup, landed in Algiers carrying a replica of the ancient football competition.

The sixth edition of the Cup Tour, sponsored by the international soft drink corporation Coca-Cola, kicked off on January 3rd, extending over a period of 150 days.

The World Cup model was accompanied by the stars of the first national team, goalkeeper Luca Zidane, a professional from the Spanish club Granada, and Ibrahim Mazza from the German club Bayer Leverkusen, in addition to JS Kabylie defender Zinedine Belaid.

The FIFA delegation, led by the former German football star and 1990 World Cup winner, Jurgen Klinsmann, was received by; Mr. Walid Sadi, Minister of Sports and President of the Algerian Football Federation.

Visit programme

The International Football Association, in cooperation with its Algerian counterpart, has written a program not exceeding 48 hours to promote the 23rd edition of the World Cup, which will be organized by the United States of America, Canada and Mexico next summer.

After being received in the honorary hall of Houari Boumediene International Airport, the FIFA delegation headed to the Presidential Palace in Mouradia.

Klinsmann handed the cup to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in the presence of the first national team coach, Bosnian Vladimir Petkovic, and veteran national team players such as the stars Rabah Madjer and Lakhdar Belloumi.

He will visit the original model of the cup, which is more than 36 centimeters high and weighs six kilograms of 18-carat gold. Both the Oval Hall of the Olympic Complex, Mohamed Boudiaf, in the capital, and then the Experimental Park in Hamma.

The Coca-Cola World Tour includes 30 national federations before the start of the 2026 World Cup.

The visit will allow the Algerian public to come closer and enjoy watching the golden figure, when it arrives at the Oval Hall, today.

The second day will be devoted to a photography session in the Experiments Park in Hamma.
