On Saturday night, the United States launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordo and Isfahan. US President Donald Trump said that the goal of strikes is to restrict Iran’s nuclear capabilities, stressing that Tehran should agree to “end this war”, otherwise Iran will face more dangerous consequences.
For its part, the Iranian parliament announced that Tehran was expecting an attack on the nuclear facility in Fordo, so it had previously evacuated it, and the facility was not repaired. While the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization confirmed that Tehran does not intend to stop developing its nuclear program despite the strikes.
The American attack sparked negative international reactions, as United Nations Secretary -General Antonio Guterres described the attack as “a serious escalation in the region and a direct threat to international peace and security.”
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Barla also condemned the American aggression against Iran, describing it as “irresponsible criminal act that violates international law and has unexpected consequences.”
On the other hand, Republican Congress, Thomas Massi, criticized the American strikes and considered that they are inconsistent with the constitution, while democratic deputy described Alexandria Okasio-Cortez of New York State what happened as “justification for isolating the president.”
