The UN Security Council announced that it will hold an emergency meeting tomorrow morning, Monday, to discuss the military operation carried out by the United States in Venezuela, which resulted in the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife in the capital, Caracas.
The spokeswoman for the Permanent Mission of Somalia to the United Nations, Khadija Ahmed, said that the meeting will begin at ten in the morning local time in New York (15:00 GMT), based on the request of Venezuela submitted through Colombia, one of the non-permanent members of the Council.
The meeting comes in light of the escalation of regional and international tensions following the sudden US military operation, which observers described as sparking widespread diplomatic reactions.
