The National Union of Taxi Transporters confirmed that it followed with great interest the contents of the regular media meeting of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the frank and responsible positions it included regarding the traffic law and the transporters’ strike, in a context that reflects the state’s keenness to listen to the real concerns of transport sector professionals.

According to the union’s statement today, Sunday, the latter union highly appreciates the President of the Republic’s assertion that reaching a state of strike should not have happened, and on the necessity of consulting actors and professionals to enrich the legal texts before passing them, which clearly intersects with the proposal that the union has defended since the beginning of this path, based on its conviction of the importance of dialogue and consultation as a basic mechanism for formulating realistic and balanced legislation.

In its statement, the union also expressed its appreciation for the clear position of the President of the Republic in warning against attempts to exploit the social situation by parties seeking to sow “mixture” and destabilize, and in this context, it affirms its firm commitment to protecting the country’s security and stability, and its categorical rejection of any suspicious employment of the concerns of professionals.

According to the same statement, the Union notes with satisfaction the President of the Republic’s praise of the Transport Union’s positions, and considers them successful, especially with regard to the tightening of the penalty for intentional traffic accidents in cases of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This is a principled position that reflects a common concern for protecting lives and establishing a culture of traffic safety.
