The Speaker of the National Assembly appreciates the law criminalizing colonialism and highlights its national and continental dimensions – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Today, Thursday, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Azouz Nasseri, praised the content of the text of the law criminalizing French colonialism in Algeria, considering it a reference for the countries that experienced the bitterness, tyranny and tyranny of colonialism.

Nasseri explained, at the conclusion of a public session devoted to approving the texts of the law criminalizing colonialism, the organic law related to the judiciary, and amending the nationality law,

The ratification of the law criminalizing colonialism represents a gain for the Algerian people and the struggling family.

Praising the initiative taken by representatives of the National People’s Assembly to criminalize French colonialism,

He made it an eternal witness to the brutal crimes committed by settler colonialism in Algeria between 1830 and 1962.

He pointed out that the text has a continental and global dimension, as it can be a reference for African countries and other countries that suffered colonialism.

He confirmed that the National Assembly had issued a special issue of the Journal of Parliamentary Thought entitled: “Crimes of French Colonialism in Algeria: 1830-1962,” as a token of loyalty to the Algerian people and their sacrifices over more than 130 years.

Regarding the reservation on 13 articles of the law, Nasseri stated that they will be referred to the equal-member committee to be redrafted and approved in the coming days, in accordance with the established constitutional procedures.

Regarding the text of the organic law of the judiciary, Nasseri described it as an essential pillar of judicial work and a supportive pillar of the judicial authority.

Emphasizing the state’s interest in providing appropriate means and conditions to enhance legal security and the proper functioning of the judiciary,

In line with the directives of the President of the Republic, President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

As for amending the citizenship law, Nasseri stressed that it is not intended to detract from the conditions of citizens or cause any inconvenience.

Rather, it is a precautionary measure to protect the state and confront potential risks against the Algerian people.

Calling for concerted efforts to overcome the major challenges facing the country.
