The Secretary General of CAF raises controversy again

The Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football, Congolese Mosengo Veron Omba, makes; The event even in its absence from official meetings.
The President of the Moroccan Federation, Samir Sabiha, made controversial statements to the British newspaper The Guardian, in which he described Mosengo as lacking legitimacy.
Sabiha accused officials in the African Union of violating the regulations, as they kept Mosengo in his position even though he was over the legal age.
Employees are forced to retire after they reach the age of 63, as determined by Article 130 of the CAF Employment Law.
Mosengo assumed his position at the head of the General Secretariat five years ago, when he was sixty-one years old at the time.
The President of the African Confederation is allowed to renew the membership of the position for three years once, which is what South African Patrice Motsepe did with Mosengo in October 2022.
However, this privilege has become obsolete as the year 2026 enters, as the Congolese lawyer with Swiss citizenship reaches the age of 66 years.
Sabiha called for Mosengo to be removed from his duties in order to respect the laws and protect the legitimacy of the continental football body.
Confederation President Patrice Motsepe responded: On the question regarding the status of the Secretary-General in a diplomatic manner during the General Assembly held recently in the Tanzanian capital, Dar es Salaam.
Motsepe said: “Retirement is governed by laws that we deal with not only according to the principle of equality, but also according to what the management wheels require. We will be careful to make the appropriate decision regarding employees.”
It is noteworthy that Mosengo Patrice Omba missed the last meeting of the Executive Office of the African Union, due to urgent family concerns.
The President of the Mauritian Football Association, Samir Sabiha, revealed that he would have directed the same words to the Secretary-General if he had attended the appointment.
