The Sahrawi Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounces de Mistura’s statements

The Sahrawi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the statement issued after the meeting of the Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Moroccan occupying state yesterday, “is nothing but a reiteration of the same positions of intransigence and arrogance that prove once again that the occupying state does not possess any political will to advance.” “Towards a just and lasting solution for the decolonization of Western Sahara.”

The Sahrawi Foreign Ministry reported that the Polisario Front strongly condemns the language of rejection and intransigence contained in that statement and calls on the UN Security Council to bear its responsibility in confronting the policy of aggression and escalation pursued by the Moroccan occupying state, especially since its violation and demolition of the ceasefire agreement on November 13, 2020.

She added: “The occupying state is now trying to exploit de Mistura’s visit to mislead its internal public opinion by appearing to be setting the ‘conditions’ and that: ‘This misleading by the occupying state is in fact nothing but pretexts for its unwillingness to engage seriously in the peace process and for its continued obstruction of efforts. The statement stated that the UN Security Council is required to take concrete steps to enable MINURSO to fully implement its mandate as specified in the African UN settlement plan.

The Sahrawi Foreign Ministry also confirmed that the Polisario Front renews its readiness to continue working with the United Nations and the African Union with the aim of reaching a peaceful, just and lasting solution to the conflict between the Sahrawi Republic and the Kingdom of Morocco in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and the objectives and principles of the Constitutive Act of the African Union.

By the way, I stressed the strong and steadfast determination of the Sahrawi people to continue their national struggle by all legitimate means, including armed struggle, until they achieve their non-negotiable goals of freedom, independence, and extending sovereignty over the entire territory of the Sahrawi Republic.
