On Wednesday, the official announcement of the establishment of the Sahrawi Football Federation took place at the Mazfaran Hotel in Zeralda, west of the capital.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary-General of the Sahrawi Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mohamed Said Dadi, in addition to the Chairman of the Algerian National Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, Said Ayachi, and members of the diplomatic corps.
The Sahrawi national football team registered its presence, led by coach Mohamed Salem El Kantaoui.
The President of the Sahrawi Football Federation, Ahmed Abba Yahya Bouhabini, stated that the event is historic and will strengthen the institutions of the Sahrawi Republic.
It should be noted that the actual (administrative) date of the establishment of the Sahrawi Union dates back to last February 6, corresponding to the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of the Sahrawi Republic.
Three years ago, Algeria witnessed the official launch of the Sahrawi national football team, as the latter faced off in a friendly match against the Mouloudia Club of Algiers at Nelson Mandela Stadium.
This time, he returns with a squad that includes several professional players in European leagues, to meet the veterans of the Algerian national team, led by the 2019 African champion, Djamel Belamri.
On Friday, at 4:30 p.m., Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki will host the exhibition match under the slogan “Sports at the heart of just causes.”
Samir Bouaziz, a member of the Algerian National Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, explained that organizing this match is the first and ultimate goal of supporting the Sahrawi cause and supporting the struggle of the Sahrawi people oppressed by the Moroccan occupation.
The People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, headed by Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is keen to carry the torch of championing the Sahrawi cause in accordance with United Nations regulations, foremost among which is the principle of the right of peoples to self-determination.
On this basis, Algerian political diplomacy is accompanied by sports by promoting similar demonstrations.
