The public transport sector in Algeria is witnessing a qualitative boom

The transport sector in Algeria is witnessing new reforms that will add dynamism to the management of the public transport facility, enhance the efficiency of performance and improve the quality of services provided to citizens. In this context, new directors have been installed across the various states of the country.

The statement of the Ministry of the Interior, Local Governments and Urban Planning, on Wednesday, stated that within the framework of the broad movement conducted by Al-Saeed Saeed, Minister of the Interior, Local Governments and Urban Development, in the corps of transport directors at the national level, which falls within the path of reforms initiated by the sector with the aim of adding a new dynamic to the management of the public transport facility, enhancing the efficiency of performance and improving the quality of services provided to citizens, new directors were installed for the transport directorates across the various states.

This movement embodies the keenness of the Minister of the Interior, Local Communities and Urban Development to establish modern governance for the transport sector, by injecting new competencies capable of keeping pace with the challenges at hand, activating field follow-up mechanisms, as well as promoting participatory work with various actors in the sector, especially social and professional partners, in a way that ensures responding to citizens’ concerns and improving public service.

In this regard, the governors supervised the inauguration ceremony of the new directors in the presence of the local and security authorities and members of the executive branch, in addition to representatives of the sector’s bodies and representatives of social partners.

Some former directors were also honored in appreciation of the efforts they made during their period of supervising the management of the transportation sector, and their contributions to improving the performance of services provided to citizens and developing the public facility.
