The Prime Minister was accompanied on this visit by the Minister of State, the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, the Minister of the Interior, Local Communities and Transport, Saeed Saioud, the Minister of Public Works and Basic Installations, Abdelkader Glaoui, the Minister of Industry, Yahya Bashir, and the Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Defenders, Abdelmalek Tashrift.
During this visit, the Prime Minister received a detailed technical presentation on the progress of the works, which included the various stages of completion, contractual deadlines, and measures taken to ensure that the project conforms to the approved technical standards.
In this context, the Prime Minister issued instructions to the various institutions involved in the completion of the project, in which he stressed strict adherence to completion deadlines, respect for the books of conditions, and harnessing the necessary human and material resources, to ensure the receipt of the mining platform within the specified deadlines and in accordance with the applicable quality and safety standards.
The same source added that linking the Oued El Hadba phosphate mine in the state of Tebessa to the port of Annaba via a modern double railway would reduce the cost of transport when exporting, improve the profitability of the national phosphate chain, and enhance the competitiveness of the Algerian product in international markets.
This project is of great strategic importance, as it falls within the efforts to support the national phosphate chain and enhance the capabilities of the port of Annaba to receive large-tonnage ships designated for transporting phosphate and its derivatives to foreign markets.
The project includes the completion of a base platform, lengthening the main barrier of the port by 1,400 metres, constructing a mining quay with a depth of 16 meters and a length of 1,600 metres, in addition to preparing backyards with an area of 82 hectares, as well as excavating the basin to the required depth.
This structural project would contribute to strengthening the national basic infrastructure, supporting the national economy, creating direct and indirect job positions, and stimulating economic mobility in the eastern region of the country, in implementation of the directives of the country’s higher authorities.
