On Sunday, Prime Minister Sefi Gharib made a field visit to the state of Souk Ahras to follow up on the progress of the project to duplicate, correct and modernize the eastern mining line, one of the strategic projects for the eastern region, commissioned by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
The eastern mining line extends from Annaba through Bouchkov, Tebessa and Jebel El-Anq, all the way to Bilad Al-Hadba, over a total distance of 422 km. It aims to develop the railway transport infrastructure, increase the carrying capacity, and ensure safe and efficient transport of passengers and goods.
The official’s inspection focused on the 121-kilometre-long section between Boucheqouf and Dria in Souk Ahras, which includes important technical installations such as Tunnel No. 8, with a length of 2,175 metres, and Bridge No. 39, with a length of 1,354.2 metres.
During the visit, the Prime Minister received detailed explanations about the progress of the works, where he stressed the need to “carefully follow all stages of the project and ensure the application of safety and quality standards.”
The Prime Minister stressed that the project constitutes “an economic and development lever for the eastern region, as it will contribute to improving transportation between states, facilitating the transportation of raw materials and products, supporting local investments, and promoting economic and social development.”
He also stressed his keenness to “implement the instructions of the President of the Republic to complete the project before the end of the year,” stressing the importance of “coordination between various parties to ensure the completion of the project on time and with the highest levels of quality and efficiency.”
For reference, Gharib was accompanied during this visit by the Minister of Interior, Local Communities and Transport, Saeed Saeed, the Minister of Public Works and Basic Facilities, Abdelkader Glaoui, and the Minister of Mujahideen and People of Rights, Abdelmalek Tashrift.
