The Prime Minister chairs a government meeting – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Prime Minister Seifi Gharib chaired a government meeting devoted to studying a group of legal and development files, within the framework of implementing the directives of the President of the Republic to promote economic reforms and structure the path of national development.

At the beginning of the session, the government discussed a draft preliminary law to amend and complete Law No. 04-08 of August 14, 2004, relating to the conditions for practicing commercial activities, in order to modernize the legal framework for commercial activity in line with current economic transformations, improve the business climate, enhance transparency, and regulate the national market.

The meeting also dealt with the preparation of sectoral road papers for the period 2026-2028, as the government studied work plans for the sectors of mujahideen and rights holders, energy and renewable energies, foreign trade and export promotion, religious affairs and endowments, the knowledge economy and emerging institutions, in addition to micro-enterprises.

These strategic papers are based on accurate diagnostics and practical tools that take into account the available human and financial capabilities, and aim to structure national development, diversify the economy, increase the contribution of non-hydrocarbon sectors to the gross domestic product, and enhance local production and its competitiveness.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the government continued to follow up on major structured projects and reviewed the progress of projects in the fields of agriculture, energy and irrigation, stressing the need to accelerate completion and ensure their entry into service within the specified deadlines, in a way that supports food and energy security and promotes sustainable development.
