The Prime Minister appoints the National Council for Agricultural Mechanization – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

On Saturday, January 24, 2026, Prime Minister Sifi Gharib installed the National Council for Agricultural Mechanization, as part of the state’s efforts to modernize the agricultural sector and enhance its productive capabilities, in implementation of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

This council aims to support agricultural investors and provide the necessary agricultural equipment. It consists of representatives of the relevant sectors, in addition to representatives of professional associations of farmers and local economic operators who produce agricultural equipment.

The Prime Minister emphasized the preparation of a comprehensive work plan for the Council, which includes a complete inventory of farmers’ equipment needs, taking into account the specificity of each agricultural division, and setting the priorities associated with the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 agricultural seasons to ensure their success. The plan should also include measures to enhance local production of agricultural equipment and meet needs according to the usage standards specific to each agricultural region.

Among the Council’s other tasks is strengthening national capabilities in maintaining agricultural equipment and providing spare parts by developing a national maintenance network, ensuring effective use of the national equipment shed.

The Council will hold periodic meetings to evaluate the extent of implementation of the work plan and ensure an effective response to the identified needs in the field of agricultural mechanization.
