The new traffic law… driving licenses without driving schools! – New Algeria

The head of the National Syndicate of Driving Schools and an expert in the field of traffic safety, Manari Meziane, said that the new draft traffic law allows the free candidate to pass an exam to obtain a driving license without accreditation, registration or prior training in a driving school.

The head of the union said, in a statement to “Al-Jadeeda Al-Jadeed”, “What we find interesting in the draft law is that it allows the free candidate to pass the exams to obtain a driver’s license without a driving school, and here we wonder who will hold him accountable and monitor his training.”

Regarding the content of the draft traffic law, the speaker called for eliminating the responsibility of driving schools when the driver commits a traffic accident, and also working to provide mechanisms to conduct the driving school exam, and working to increase the efficiency of training and controlling it by digitizing the traffic law.

Expert Manari Meziane believes that enriching the draft law did not take enough time and the social partners did not involve it, each according to their specialization, noting that the results of this became apparent through the protest of various actors in the sector against the law.

The head of the union stressed the need to open discussion on the draft law, and also to reconsider the penalties and fines, proposing to reach a consensual traffic law, organizing national workshops and summoning all actors without excluding each according to his specialty, so that there is coordination between the administrative and the field – according to him -.
