The National Assembly sets its work calendar and schedules the study of five laws – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Today, Sunday, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Azouz Nasseri, chaired a meeting of the Council’s Bureau, including the heads of parliamentary groups and the parliamentary observer, devoted to discussing and setting the work agenda of the National Assembly during the period from January 13 to 22, 2026.

A statement from the National Assembly explained that the work program for the coming period includes studying and discussing five draft laws, in addition to considering the status of oral and written questions deposited with the office, as well as procedures for proving the membership of a new member of the National Assembly under the title of the presidential third.

During the meeting, it was decided to refer two legal texts to the Committee on Legal and Administrative Affairs, Human Rights, Local Organization, Territory Development, and Regional Division. These relate to the draft organic law containing the basic law of the judiciary, and the draft law amending and supplementing Order No. 70-86 of December 15, 1970, relating to the Algerian nationality law. It was also decided to refer the draft law criminalizing the French colonization of Algeria to the National Defense Committee.

Two other legal texts were also referred to the Local Equipment and Development Committee, related to the draft traffic law and the draft law specifying the general rules related to trust services for electronic transactions and electronic identification, for the purpose of preparing reports on them.

Regarding the work calendar, it was decided to resume public sessions starting on the morning of Tuesday, January 13, 2026, with the five draft laws being presented to a vote during a public session held on the evening of Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

Regarding the oral and written questions, and after reviewing the new questions deposited with the office’s secretariat, which numbered 10 oral questions and 5 written questions, the National Assembly Office decided to refer them to the government in order to fulfill the required formal conditions.

As for confirming the membership of Abdel Nasser Hammoud, the new member appointed by the President of the Republic in the National Assembly within the presidential third, it was decided to refer his file to the Committee for Legal and Administrative Affairs, Human Rights, Local Organization, Territory Development, and Territorial Division, to prepare a membership confirmation report, in preparation for presenting it to the next plenary session of the Council for approval.
