The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments announced that The beginning of the month of Rajab 1447 AH will be on Sunday, December 21, 2025 AD, according to a statement, today, Saturday, by the Ministry.
As the Ministry congratulates the Algerian people and the Islamic nation on the advent of this holy month, one of the sacred months, it recalls the established habit of Algerians in glorifying the seasons of goodness and reviving the Sunnah of the Prophet, as Algeria, through its mosques, commemorates the beginning of the month of Rajab every year.
Hijri yearIt is a well-established scientific and religious custom, which consists of starting to read the book Sahih Imam al-Bukhari in councils supervised by imams and scholars, and starting on the first Monday of the month of Rajab, and continuing until the reading ends on the twenty-sixth of the blessed month of Ramadan, according to what was done in mosques across the country.
This practice is considered an authentic religious and scientific heritage in Algeria, as the country’s scholars have, over the centuries, revived books.
Sunnah of the Prophet In special seasons, due to this glorifying the noble hadith, linking worship with knowledge, and consolidating the national religious authority.
The Algerians inherited this praiseworthy Sunnah from a group of their great scholars, who usually began reading Sahih al-Bukhari on the Monday of the first week of the month of Rajab, the most prominent of whom were; Sheikh Mustafa bin Muhammad al-Kababti (1775–1860 AD), the Maliki jurist, one of the prominent figures in Algeria before and during the French occupation, and Imam Abd al-Rahman al-Tha’alabi (1793–1873 AD), Algeria’s scholar and jurist, and Sheikh Abd al-Razzaq bin Hammadush (ca. 1695–end of the eighteenth century): encyclopedist and traveler, and Sheikh Abd al-Halim bin Samaya. (1866-1933 AD): He is a scholar specializing in hadith and jurisprudence. He lived during the late nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Starting from Monday, December 22, 2025, with the organization of a scientific symposium at Dar Al-Imam University in Muhammadiyah, Algiers, under the generous patronage of the Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Dr. Youssef Belmehdi, and followed by the Imams from all states of the country via remote video lecture techniques.
The Ministry also calls on imams and mosque leaders to actively participate in these scholarly councils, emphasizing their role in preserving the national religious authority, promoting moderation and moderation, and consolidating the connection to the noble Prophetic Sunnah.
