The Ministry of Health warns against restricting circumcision operations to the night of the 27th of Ramadan – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform warned against restricting circumcision operations to the night of the twenty-seventh of Ramadan, calling on families to distribute these operations throughout the month to avoid pressure on health institutions.

The Ministry explained, in a statement, that many Algerian families prefer to circumcise their sons during the month of Ramadan, which leads to an increase in these operations at the level of hospitals and private clinics during this period.

The Ministry stressed that the circumcision operation must be performed exclusively within public hospital institutions or private clinics that are equipped and meet the necessary health conditions, and that it is performed by a doctor specialized in surgery.

She also stressed the necessity of conducting prior medical tests to ensure that the child is ready for the operation, warning against performing them outside the surgical services of hospital institutions or private clinics throughout the entire national territory.
