The Ministry of Health reminds us of preventive measures against food poisoning

The Ministry of Health renewed its call to exercise a spirit of individual and collective responsibility with regard to being vigilant and adhering to hygiene rules and health safety conditions, stressing that prevention is the most effective way to protect public health and avoid serious complications of food poisoning during the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry called on all professionals in the field of mass feeding to strictly adhere to hygiene rules, in order to preserve the safety of citizens and public health, while urging all male and female citizens to be vigilant and adhere to hygiene rules and health safety conditions, while preparing, preserving and consuming food materials.
The Ministry of Health confirmed that food poisoning poses a real threat to public health, especially when associated with group feeding at events and gatherings, where the possibility of transmission of infection increases as a result of poor preservation or failure to respect hygiene conditions. It also indicated that the recently recorded cases were mostly linked to the consumption of some quickly perishable food items, such as sweets, minced meat, eggs, and milk products.
In this regard, the Ministry of Health recommended the necessity of adhering to preventive measures, such as clean hands and utensils, washing food items well before cooking, thoroughly cooking all foodstuffs, respecting refrigeration rules while storing and transporting food items, using safe water for cooking, isolating foods cooked during cooling from the rest of the food items, checking the expiration date of food items, not leaving frozen meat at room temperature, not consuming canned food that is deformed, swollen, or has a strange odor when opened, and placing food in containers. Closed to avoid contact between raw foods and ready-to-eat foods. Do not leave cooked food for more than two hours at room temperature and do not store food for long periods.
