The Minister of Health, Mohamed Seddik Ait Messaoudane, confirmed on Saturday in Ouargla that the ministry is committed to ensuring a modern and effective health service, and is also continuing to develop the national health system and improve public service.
The Minister said, while supervising the laying of the foundation stone for an expanding university hospital project in the public equipment area in the municipality of Ouargla, that the Ministry of Health “seeks to remove the obstacles that hinder the improvement of public service in line with the aspirations of citizens and the directives of the country’s higher authorities.”
He also expressed his commitment to continue working to ensure an effective, quality, modern health service without exception.
This Ouargla University Hospital project is located on a total area of 33.7 hectares, of which 19.7 hectares includes the medical and surgical emergency department and several main units, namely the hospitalization department, which in turn is divided into three major departments: the mother and child department, surgery, and general medicine, in addition to other departments such as the technical platform, outpatient clinics, and logistical services, in addition to the pedagogical block designated for training and research, as was mentioned.
The Minister of Health had previously supervised, along with the local authorities, the putting into service of the burns department located at the Mohamed Boudiaf Hospital in Ouargla, which has a capacity of 40 beds, including 30 beds belonging to the hospital departments and 10 beds to the resuscitation department. The Sonatrach Foundation contributed to financing the process of equipping it with a budget amounting to 200 million dinars.
The department has three doctors specialized in plastic and plastic surgery, a doctor specializing in resuscitation, another in surgery, a clinical psychologist, and 12 public health nurses.
On the other hand, the Minister inspected the work of the rehabilitation workshop on the third floor of Mohamed Boudiaf Hospital, in addition to his supervision in the public equipment area of laying the foundation stone for the project to build a new headquarters for the State Directorate of Health and Population.
