The Ministry of Health discusses the demands of psychologists and confirms the continuation of trade union dialogue – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health, Mohamed Talhi, received a delegation from the Algerian National Union of Psychologists, headed by Khaled Kaddad, in a meeting devoted to discussing the professional and union concerns of this group, according to a statement from the ministry issued today, Friday.
The statement explained that the meeting, which was held yesterday, Thursday, in the presence of members of the central committee in charge of dialogue with social partners, falls within the directives of the Minister of Health, Mohamed Siddiq Ait Masoudane, aimed at strengthening consultation with social partners in the sector.
The meeting witnessed the presentation of a number of issues related to working conditions and the professional path of psychologists, in addition to ways to ensure the practice of union activity in appropriate conditions. Representatives of the union also presented their demands, the most important of which is reviewing some of the contents of the basic law regarding psychologists and correcting the imbalances recorded in it, in a way that strengthens the status of this group within the health system.
The talks also addressed the importance of improving communication channels between health institution administrations and representatives of psychologists, and providing the necessary means to practice psychological work in a way that contributes to improving the work environment and improving the quality of services provided to patients.
For his part, Talhi stressed the Ministry of Health’s keenness to improve the working conditions of sector professionals in a way that reflects on the quality of patient care, praising the role of the Algerian National Union of Psychologists as a proposing force that contributes to supporting health system reform, especially in the field of mental health.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Secretary-General reaffirmed that channels of dialogue and consultation remain open with various actors in the sector, in a way that serves the patient and improves the quality of health services.
