The Ministry of Health appreciates the success of the polio vaccination campaign – New Algeria

The Ministry of Health revealed the success of the national polio vaccination campaign, which recorded an outstanding coverage rate of 95% in the first phase, 96% in the second phase, and 94% in the third phase.

In a statement today, Saturday, the Ministry appreciated the high commitment of health professionals and all intervening partners to the success of the national polio vaccination campaign, considering that these results reflect an advanced level of community mobilization, considering vaccination an essential pillar for protecting public health.

Based on these gains, the Ministry stresses the need to preserve them by promoting routine vaccination, to ensure sustainable protection of children from preventable diseases, especially measles, whooping cough, diphtheria, tetanus, viral hepatitis B and other diseases with serious complications.

The Ministry explained that, in this context, routine vaccination contributes to ensuring continuous and comprehensive protection for children in accordance with the national vaccination calendar, preventing the re-emergence of vaccineable diseases and the serious complications they cause, in addition to maintaining herd immunity, enhancing national health security, and consolidating the gains achieved thanks to national vaccination campaigns.

The Ministry added, “In light of the international context that is witnessing the return of some diseases, health vigilance remains a collective responsibility that requires concerted efforts and continued commitment.”

The Ministry of Health called on parents to adhere to the dates of the national vaccination calendar, ensure that their children’s vaccinations are completed, and also go to the nearest health facility to make up for any missing doses.
