On Saturday, the Ministry of Health affirmed the success achieved by the national polio vaccination campaign, through its three stages, calling for the necessity of maintaining routine vaccination for this group, to ensure sustainable protection from preventable diseases.
According to a statement, the Ministry appreciated the success achieved by the national polio vaccination campaign, which recorded outstanding coverage rates of “95 percent in the first phase, 96 percent in the second phase, and 94 percent in the third phase.”
The same departments also praised the high commitment of health professionals and all intervening partners, stressing that these results reflect an advanced level of community mobilization, considering vaccination a fundamental pillar of public health protection.
She stressed the need to preserve the gains achieved by “promoting routine vaccination that ensures sustainable protection of children from preventable diseases, especially measles, whooping cough, diphtheria, tetanus, hepatitis B, and other diseases with serious complications,” noting that this process contributes to “ensuring continuous and comprehensive protection for children, in accordance with the national vaccination calendar.”
The statement added that routine vaccination can also “maintain collective immunity, enhance national health security, and consolidate the gains achieved thanks to national vaccination campaigns,” highlighting that “in light of the international context that is witnessing the return of some diseases, health vigilance remains a collective responsibility that requires concerted efforts and continued commitment.”
Finally, the Ministry of Health called on parents to “adhere to the dates of the national vaccination calendar, ensure that their children’s vaccinations are completed, and go to the nearest health facility to make up for any missing doses.”
