The Ministry of Education is preparing to accredit private schools under updated conditions

The Ministry of Education revealed the imminent resumption of accreditation of private schools in Algeria, stressing that the process will begin immediately upon the issuance of the new book of conditions currently at the level of the General Secretariat of the government.

The Minister of National Education, Mohamed Al-Saghir Saadawi, explained, during a session of oral questions in the National Assembly, that the new conditions book aims to encourage investment in specialized private schools, within the framework of a new vision for the country’s private education sector.

Saadawi pointed out that the accreditation of the new private educational institutions will be subject to a set of standards, most notably the fulfillment of all conditions stipulated in the new book of conditions, in addition to the geographical distribution of schools according to the actual need for each region, as well as the completion of the file for opening specialized institutions, which is still under study at the ministry level. The Minister stressed the need to adhere to these standards to ensure the quality of education and provide educational services that meet the required quality standards.

In a related context, the Minister referred to the directives of the President of the Republic on the necessity of directing private schools towards specialization, in line with the state’s efforts to include new and advanced scientific specializations in the national educational system. These modern specializations include vital fields such as cybersecurity, nanoscience, and artificial intelligence, which are specializations that have become necessary in light of the rapid technological transformations that the world is witnessing.

It is noteworthy that the private school sector in Algeria has witnessed, in recent years, widespread controversy over high fees and overcrowding of departments in some institutions, which makes the new conditions book an opportunity to reorganize and control the sector in a way that serves the interests of students and their parents.
