The Ministry of Education announces the 2026 Mathematics Olympiad… These are the conditions for participation – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The Ministry of National Education announced the organization of the first qualifying competition for the third edition of the Algerian Mathematics Olympiad for the year 2026, which is scheduled to be held on the morning of Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 08:30 until 12:30 pm.

This competition is for students who excel in mathematics, studying in public and private educational institutions, in addition to the schools of the nation’s cubs.

Regarding the conditions for participation, the Ministry explained that the competition includes:

• Intermediate education stage: Students who obtained an average equal to or greater than 18/20 in mathematics during the first semester of the academic year 2025-2026.

• Secondary education stage: Students in the first year of secondary school (combined stream of science and technology), and the second year of secondary school in mathematics, technical mathematics, and experimental sciences, who obtained an average equal to or greater than 17/20 in mathematics during the first semester of the same academic year.

The Ministry of National Education confirmed that directors of educational institutions will supervise the preparation of nominal lists for the students concerned, and the delivery of summonses, while coordinating with the schools of the nation’s cubs to identify the participants, in addition to distributing typical training topics and assigning professors to accompany the students.

Competition centers will also be determined at a rate of 20 students in each hall, including private school students and the nation’s youth, and a state committee will be installed to supervise the organization, which includes inspectors and teachers from middle and secondary education.

The Ministry indicated that the appointment of the centers and the supervising and guarding bodies will be before Thursday, January 8, 2026, provided that the students’ invitations are sent before the same date, while the competition topics are printed and placed in closed envelopes, which are delivered to the heads of the centers on Thursday, January 15, 2026, with an emphasis not to open them until the day of the exam.
