The Minister of the Interior, Local Communities and Transport confirmed that school feeding is subject to constant follow-up by the public authorities in implementation of the instructions of the President of the Republic.
In his response to the written question submitted by MP Jeddou Rabah regarding the demand to open school canteens for the benefit of students in the Al-Fayd neighborhood in the municipality of Qasr Al-Bukhari in the state of Medea, the Minister indicated that several measures would be taken that would improve the conditions for studying for students, harness all material and human capabilities, and provide optimal conditions for a clean and safe study environment.
The ministerial response revealed that the Al-Fayd neighborhood contains five primary schools located within the integrated residential neighborhoods that include 2,057 public rental housing, and it is among the 69 schools located in the integrated neighborhoods in the urban center. The minister attributed the absence of school feeding in these primary schools to the lack of sufficient space to establish school restaurants, with the exception of Kharboush Mustafa School, in which a school restaurant with a capacity of 100 meals could be established, provided that this is proposed within the upcoming development programs.
The Minister of the Interior explained that a central inspection committee was dispatched during December 2025 to take care of this situation and determine the reality of school feeding, as some shortcomings were recorded and the necessary instructions were given to take urgent measures and find appropriate solutions.
Al-Rad added that a technical committee was formed to inspect schools that do not have a catering service and express a final opinion on the possibility of constructing a typical restaurant or preparing feeding halls, in addition to determining the financial needs to cover this and determining the number of users to undertake the school catering service.
