The meeting of European foreign ministers discusses the protection of sea lanes and the Strait of Hormuz – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

European foreign ministers are holding an important meeting to discuss ways to protect strategic sea lanes, with a focus on the issue of the vital Strait of Hormuz. The meeting comes amid escalating tensions in the region and the European Union’s need to enhance maritime navigation security.

During the meeting, the ministers are expected to approve the imposition of new sanctions targeting 19 Iranian officials and entities, as part of diplomatic pressure efforts on Tehran.

The ministers will also discuss plans to strengthen Cyprus’ defense capabilities, ensuring enhanced stability and security in the Eastern Mediterranean, along with measures to enhance security cooperation between EU member states.
