The international press appreciates the importance of the railway line “Gara Jbeilat-Tindouf” – New Algeria

The international press highlighted with wide interest the strategic and economic importance of the western mining railway project “Gara Jbeilat-Tindouf” – Bashar, whose launch ceremony was supervised by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, considering this historic event a “major turning point” in Algeria’s strategy to diversify its economy.
Television channels and news websites in the Arab world broadcast detailed reports about the opening of the mining railway, indicating that this project will allow the efficient transportation of iron ore to the port of Oran and the steel factories, which will strengthen the country’s economic sovereignty.
They also emphasized the role of the mine in developing the Tindouf region, similar to the southwestern region of the country, and creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs, as they described the event of “launching the longest mining railway in Africa” as a “historic moment.”
In this context, the Russian news agency “Sputnik” indicated that this huge project comes within a government vision to enhance the connection of the southern regions to the national economy, and to facilitate movement and transportation of goods, especially iron ore extracted from the Gara Jbeilat mine, which is one of the largest iron reserves in the world.
She pointed out that the new mining railway is an “essential axis” for moving the national economy outside the scope of hydrocarbons, as it opens broad horizons for developing manufacturing industries in Algeria by linking production areas with processing and export centers in the north, such as the Oran region and others.
The agency also highlighted that this railway line represents a “huge engineering achievement” that was completed in record time and was completed with complex engineering works that include several bridges and technical installations along the route, which makes it “one of the most prominent infrastructure projects in Algeria and Africa.”
In turn, the Qatari Al Jazeera channel highlighted on its website that the project comes within the context of a comprehensive national strategy, launched by Algeria in recent years, to develop structured projects, aiming to expand the railway network to reach 15 thousand kilometers by 2030.
For its part, the Saudi newspaper “Asharq Al-Awsat” said that this project aims to increase the country’s capabilities in extracting iron, through which Algeria aspires to “play a leadership role in Africa at the level of steel production.”
As for the “Discovery Alert” international website, which specializes in the rapid dissemination of information about the mining sector, it highlighted the outstanding technical and logistical achievement of establishing a railway transportation system for iron ore in a record time.
The author of the article entitled: “Gara Jbeilat: The Turning Point” stressed that this line is not only used to transport iron ore, but will break the isolation of many regions, facilitate the movement of passengers, and will be “a symbol of great efforts in industrialization and economic diversification in Algeria.”
In turn, the “Eurasia Review” news website, which is concerned with the economy, especially in the American continent, was interested in the event, and in an article entitled: “Algeria’s strategic transformation from a source of raw materials to a creator of industrial value,” it considered that the development of the iron ore project in Gara Jbeilat is a strategic attempt to redefine the Algerian economic model and move away from simple extraction and move towards creating “industrial value and economic diversification.”
The event also attracted the attention of the Swiss press, as Radio “LAC” and the “Ecofin” agency, which specializes in the African economy, discussed this important strategic project, under the title: “Mining transformation in Algeria: Gara Jbeilat moves to a high level of efficiency.”
These two media outlets highlighted that the exploitation of the region’s mineral resources aims to transform the country into a “pole of the mining industry in Africa.”
