The Independent National Authority for Audiovisual Control… warns! – New Algeria

The Independent National Authority for Audiovisual Control reiterated, in a statement today, Saturday, that any solidarity activity broadcast through audiovisual channels remains governed by strict legal rules that impose clarity and transparency and place the protection of the public interest above all else.

The Authority indicated that, with the beginning of the month of Ramadan, it monitored some channels broadcasting solidarity programs and campaigns during which donations were collected without accurate disclosure of the beneficiaries or the approved management mechanisms, which it considered a violation of the transparency requirements imposed by the law.

The Authority stressed that any charitable activity or fundraising campaign through audiovisual communication services must be carried out exclusively through legally licensed entities and organizations, and in accordance with applicable legislation, while refraining from broadcasting or publishing any misleading or incorrect content, in implementation of the provisions of Article 32 of Law No. 23-20.

The statement stressed the need to respect the dignity of the people who benefit from these initiatives, and not to turn their humanitarian conditions into a material for media or emotional exploitation.

The authority stressed that it will reserve its right to follow up on any violations and take the necessary legal and regulatory measures to ensure the protection of the public interest and the preservation of the sanctity of the holy month.
